Yeti Confetti for Refugees, an endeavor led by Jusoor and powered by Lirvana Labs technology, was recognized as a winning solution of the MIT Solve 2024 Global Learning Challenge! MIT Solve is an initiative that seeks to address global challenges through open innovation. Each year, social entrepreneurs and innovators submit their solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems.
Our winning solution is an AI-powered learning companion designed to teach English, Math, and Social Emotional skills to out-of-school refugee children in Lebanon. The Yeti Confetti Kids platform provides personalized learning to children who are often deprived of formal education due to displacement.
Using adaptive technology as an equalizer to meet each child’s unique pace and needs, our solution equips all children with the essential tools for academic and emotional growth while making education engaging and meaningful. What sets Yeti Confetti for Refugees apart is its ability to meet children where they are, both physically and academically. It is designed to accommodate children who may not attend school consistently or at all. Whether they are learning at night after work or fitting lessons into a busy day, the app allows them to progress at their own pace and in their home language.
Importantly, it also offers two-way interaction—providing parent and teacher engagement and tailoring curriculum to each child’s strengths and areas of challenge—unlike many other platforms that deliver a standardized, one-size-fits-all approach. We aim to empower caregivers by providing clear updates on a child’s progress and offering activity suggestions to help children reinforce learning at home. This feedback loop encourages families to actively participate in their child’s education, ensuring that children who may not have regular access to school are still receiving quality education and preparation for the future.
The $10,000 grant awarded to our winning solution will be used to expand our reach and impact, bringing more educational opportunities to displaced children globally.
